How Do I Get Started In Sailing?

Learning to sail is great fun and simple with the Royal Yachting Association's (RYA) National Training Scheme.  The two day courses allow a comfortable learning pace with sufficient time to provide all the necessary training elements.  The Scheme is designed to help you enjoy whichever aspect of the sport appeals to you.  In addition to courses, we run various sailing events and activities throughout the year for you to practice your newfound skills and get involved in all aspects of club life!

It could not be easier!   As an adult, If you are new to the sport of sailing, you will need to do one of our RYA Level 1 - Start Sailing Course.  For under 16 year olds, please click here for our Youth Sailing Courses.

What Can I Do With A Sailing

Once you have completed your RYA Level 1 sailing course, you will be able to get out on the water and practice your sailing skills by joining us in the various club sailing activities and events that run on weekends and during the week.

We are always looking for crew members to join in with our active programme of river trips, cruises and evening sailing sessions!  After some time out on the water, it will be time to do your Level 2 course, which will progress your sailing skills and knowledge to becoming a small independent boat sailor!

As you will receive an nationally and internationally recognised RYA Sailing Qualification, if you are planning on visiting other sailing clubs and centre around the UK, you can take your certificate with you as a record of your achievement.

If you decide to sail with us, there is no requirement to buy a boat as we have a fleet of club boats that are available to hire on weekends and weekdays.
