RYA Powerboat Course
Courses Available

Using our fleet of RIBs with petrol outboards and displacements inboard diesel boats, we are able to offer RYA Powerboat Courses with coastal endorsements.  Also, due to our location on the river Thames, we have no speed restrictions, which allows us to teach the entire RYA National Powerboat Level 2 Course in full.  Powerboat drivers are encouraged to support all the clubs sailing and cruising activities as a way of gaining further boat handling skills and experiences.

What Equipment Do I Need For A
Powerboat Course?
How Do I Get Started In
Powerboating?

Getting started in powerboating at EYC could not be easier.  If you are new to the sport of powerboat, you will need to do one of our RYA Powerboat Level 2 Courses, which will be run in the tidal waters of the river Thames.

What Can I Do With A Powerboating
Qualification?

Once you have done your RYA Powerboat Level 2 Course, you will be able to get out on the water and practice your driving skills by joining in with the various club sailing activities that run on weekends and during the week.

We are always looking for crew members to join in with our active programme of river trips, cruises and evening sailing sessions, all of which require a powerboat to support the sessions.   After some time out on the water, it will be time to do your RYA Safety Boat Course, which will progress your driving skills and knowledge to becoming an independent powerboat helm!

What Courses Are Available?

We start with RYA Powerboat Level 2 which covers all the elements of RYA Powerboat Level 1.

From there you can progress to RYA Safety Boat.

Following the RYA National Powerboating Scheme, we offer the Nationally recognised RYA Powerboat Level 2 qualification.  This qualification can also lead to an Internal Certificate of Competence (ICC), which is required for powerboating overseas.  Once you have completed your Powerboat Level 2 course, we also offer the RYA Safety Boat course for qualified and experienced drivers who wish to learn how to supervise a sailing session.

The minimum age for RYA Powerboat Level 1 and 2 is 12 years old.

There is no need to purchase any specialised kit or clothing for your course as we will provide the following:
